About us
Kult41 is a self-managed and self-organized cultural center that has been bringing culture to Bonn’s Nordstadt district since 1998. We organize readings, concerts, film events, theater, exhibitions and much more. Tumult61 takes place once a week as a place of communication. We provide studios and rehearsal rooms, and all for very little money. And water is even free.
We finance ourselves, we all work completely voluntarily in our free time for the “Kult41” idea, whether behind the counter or invisibly in the office, and we have to pay rent to the city of Bonn.
But that also means that we as tenants can be thrown out at any time if things are going on here that are not okay for the city.
To prevent this from happening so quickly, there are a few rules that we had to set up, for example, that no one should hang around in the yard or outside the yard gate after 10 p.m. so that the neighbors can sleep.
Self-governing means that we can decide everything concerning the cult ourselves with all members.
But self-managed also means that all the people who organize events or stand behind the bar and clean up are not paid, nor are they social workers paid by the city or anyone else, but do all the work on a voluntary basis in their free time. The whole store has been built up entirely through voluntary work and our own financial contributions and we are continuing to work on making it even better, more beautiful and more rounded.
So be nice to our people, treat them well and clean up the mess you make yourself so that they will still be happy to unlock the Kult often in the future.
Of course, we also want more people to join the cult and realize their projects and ideas here. So think about something, talk to your people and talk to us and we’ll tell you what works and what doesn’t work. You can also add your name to the list of helpers!
