General conditions for events at KULT41
Would you like to play a concert or perform in some other way at KULT41?
Perhaps you already have a date and a fixed contact person (person in charge – PiV) with us?
Then you will find important information about the general conditions for your event here.
Entrance fee
The admission price / entrance fee is set in consultation with you. In order to enable people with little money to participate in culture, our usual range is 0 to 10 €, even if several bands or artists perform on one evening. We are non-profit and non-commercial, our primary aim is to promote culture and to have fun.
70% of the net admission revenue goes to the performing artists and 30% to KULT41. Of this 30%, we pay for electricity, heating, GEMA, toilet paper, etc.
We also keep the sales tax (amount depends on the type of event, please discuss with your contact person), which is due on the admission income, and take care of passing it on to the tax office.
The sale of drinks is completely covered by us.
You are welcome to sell merchandise, and we will not take a share of it.
GEMA
For people from abroad: What is GEMA?
GEMA is a German organization that makes sure musicians get paid when their music is played in public, like on the radio, at concerts, or in clubs.
If you are a band or an artist from abroad playing a concert in Germany, you must fill out a GEMA form, even if you are not a member of GEMA or a similar organization. This is because GEMA has the task of ensuring that all musicians are paid fairly when their music is played in public, regardless of where they come from.
The form helps GEMA to know which songs were played at your performance. Even if you don’t receive money directly from GEMA, the form ensures that the concert organizer complies with the rules and that music in general is treated fairly in Germany.
It is therefore a necessary step to ensure that music is used correctly in Germany and that the musicians who wrote the songs are paid fairly even if you play their music.
If GEMA-liable pieces are performed, please inform your contact person (PiV) in advance.
KULT41 must submit a GEMA form for every live concert. Even if the performing artists are not members of GEMA or if no GEMA-liable pieces are performed.
As the “organizer”, we as KULT41 have a duty of proof towards GEMA. Therefore, a GEMA form must always be filled out for every concert.
Your “person in charge” (PiV) will ask you for the completed form before a performance.
Without a completed GEMA form: No money for you. Not even a penny.
This is important because in case of doubt, KULT41 will have to cover the GEMA fees alone.
Sound system
Available are: Monitor system (4-way), incl. 24-track mixer and microphones, power amplifier & vocal speakers. This is usually sufficient for sound reinforcement. A lighting system is also available.
For concerts, a technician will be provided by KULT41 for mixing.
Arrangements with KULT41 person in charge (PiV) – especially if you bring your own mixer!
Volume
Amplified live music must end at 10 pm.
We are in the middle of a residential area.
Nobody should be in the courtyard after 10 pm. Residential area! Public order office! You may know about it if you’ve been to Bonn / Germany before …
Number of guests
A maximum of 199 people are allowed in KULT41 at any one time. Firstly, it is then really full enough, and secondly, further legal regulations would apply from 200 people, which we do not want to worry about.
If the event is seated or partially seated, fewer people will fit into the KULT. This should be specifically discussed with the person in charge (PiV).
Advertising
The distribution of posters and flyers is generally the responsibility of the performing artists.
Exceptions (e.g. if the artists come from abroad or otherwise far away) are possible.
KULT41 supports advertising measures, e.g. through contact with the regional press, mailing list, homepage, etc.
The financing of the printing of flyers and posters must be agreed individually (see below: posters/flyers). In general, we make an additional payment of max. 30€.
Additional advertising by the artists themselves in the (local) press is useful.
There is the possibility to raffle tickets to the event in the Bonn scene magazine “Schnüss”. This and more… in consultation with your PiV (person in charge).
Required by KULT41
For the press distribution list and the KULT website, a short info is required at least one calendar month before the event: 3 or 4 sentences about the planned event plus a picture.
Example: If you are performing in March, we need all the information by the end of January.
If you are performing in April, we need the info by the end of February.
and so on ….
You will then send this information to the supervising PiV (person in charge), who will enter the information into our event system in good time.
PLEASE NOTE: If your short information is not available in time, the event will not take place!
Posters/flyers
Funding must be agreed in advance with the supervising PiV (person in charge).
A print template is required at least five weeks before the event.
A KULT41 logo should be clearly visible on each poster/flyer, as well as the address of our location. The best time for distribution is from two weeks before the event.
In general, KULT41 contributes up to 30€ for posters/flyers/other advertising.
Contracts
Whether a contract is possible, sensible or necessary will be clarified with the supervising PiV (person in charge).
KULT41 does not usually issue contracts.
